Participating artists:
Paul Newman, Jane Anderson,
Tom Ranahan, Stephen Earl Rogers, Kate Pemberton and Jo Löki
Six artists will be asked to participate in an artists’ version of Chinese whispers, and will draw lots to establish a running order. The first artist in line will make a work within the genre of their practice,
in response to a.a.s.’ project KR –36.
This will be shown to the second artist
in the running order, who will make an artwork in response to the idea or concept of the first piece, which in turn, will be shown to the third artist, and so on.
None of the artists involved will see the work of the others—apart from the work that immediately precedes theirs—until the final exhibition, on completion of
the project. The intention of ‘Chinese Whispers’ is to establishing a dialogue between differing art forms by selecting six artists working across a variety
of media and disciplines. Thus, with individual artworks, influenced by and connected to each other, it is hoped that the project will raise interesting questions about, and offer an insight into, the process of collaborative working and decision-making.
The resulting exhibition will be the basis of the Periscope contribution to
the artist-led activity within ‘The Event’.
